Heartland Head Start is a well-established social service agency that has been providing services to low income families since 1965. During this time it has grown from serving 60 children and families to as many as 275 children and families.

To provide services to children and their families throughout the McLean and Livingston counties, Heartland Head Start offers seven different sites in Bloomington, Normal, and Pontiac, Illinois.

History


Launched in 1965, Project Head Start was created to help communities overcome the handicaps of disadvantaged preschool children. Designed to help break the cycle of poverty, Head Start provides preschool children of low-income families with a comprehensive program to meet all of their physical and mental needs.

Understanding the need for an atmosphere that is conducive to learning, Heartland Head Start provides an environment that is safe, secure and assists each child in his or her learning and development.

Funding

Heartland Head Start is a federally funded nonprofit organization that relies on community contributions to expend all of our funds. These contributions allow us to provide all of our services and continue to enhance the lives of children and their families.
