DISABILITY SERVICES
Children
with disabilities receive all Head Start services. In addition, Head Start
staff collaborate with community agencies and school districts to provide
extra services to meet the special needs of children with disabilities.
We provide special services
to enrolled children with one or more of these conditions:
- Blindness and visual impairments
- Deafness and hearing impairments
- Physical handicaps Speech impairment
- Health impairment
- Developmental delays
- Serious emotional disturbances
- Specific learning disabilities
We offer these services
to children, with disabilities:
- Outreach and recruit
- Coordination with special education
programs in their school district
- Inclusion offered as options in some
districts
- Diagnostic and referral services
- Individual Family Service Plan
- Main streaming in classroom program
- Help with transition into school programs
- Resources for information and networking
with other families of children with disabilities
- Head Start children with disabilities
can be dually enrolled in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and At Risk programs(on
an individual basis).
